1. Generate IP Inventory
Sweep any subnet or IP range and build a complete, deduplicated record of every live host — IP address, MAC address, hardware vendor (via OUI lookup), open ports, response times, and first-seen/last-seen timestamps. Static, DHCP, and reserved addresses are classified automatically, so you can spot address exhaustion and silent IP conflicts before they cause outages.
You get: a live IP address register, conflict alerts, free-address reports, and vendor breakdowns by subnet.
2. Generate NetBIOS Inventory
Resolve the human-readable layer of your network. LANHealth collects NetBIOS and DNS hostnames, workgroup and domain membership, logged-on user, shared folders, and OS fingerprints — then joins that identity data to the IP inventory. An IP address tells you something is there; NetBIOS tells you whose machine it is.
You get: hostname-to-IP-to-user mapping, exposed-share visibility, rogue and unmanaged device detection.
3. Generate Switch Details
Query managed switches over SNMP to pull the details normally locked inside a CLI session: model, firmware version, uptime, port count, port status and speed/duplex, PoE draw, error counters, and the full MAC-address-to-port forwarding table. LANHealth then correlates it all into a port-level map that shows exactly which device sits on which physical port.
You get: a real-time port map, free-port counts for capacity planning, duplex-mismatch and error-port flagging, and an accurate switch asset list.
4. VLANs Discovery
Automatically enumerate every VLAN configured across your switch estate — VLAN IDs and names, tagged trunk links, untagged access ports, and which hosts live in which segment. Discrepancies between your intended segmentation design and what's actually configured are surfaced immediately.
You get: a documented VLAN inventory, trunk/access topology, orphaned and unused VLAN detection, and evidence that your network segmentation actually holds.
5. Analyze LAN Traffic
Continuously sample interface throughput and utilization to see how bandwidth is really being consumed. Track per-port and per-device traffic volumes, identify top talkers, watch broadcast and multicast levels, and review historical trend charts to separate a genuine capacity problem from a one-off spike.
You get: utilization dashboards, top-talker rankings, broadcast-storm detection, saturation trend lines, and hard numbers to support an upgrade request.
6. Detect Network Problems
LANHealth applies continuous health checks against everything it discovers and tells you what needs attention — in priority order, in plain language.
Detects and alerts on:
- Duplicate IP addresses and DHCP scope exhaustion
- Unreachable or newly offline hosts and switches
- Saturated links and overloaded switch ports
- Rising CRC, error, and discard counters signalling bad cabling or optics
